Mrs. Sandy Bernatowicz To All Instructors

Sandy was raised in a pastor’s home, the eldest of four children. She began singing solos in church at the age of 9, and teaching Sunday School at the age of 11. These loves – children, music, and Jesus shaped her life purpose. At 15, she unknowingly auditioned for the director of a traveling Christian music ministry and was immediately cast as the lead role of “Anna” in a children’s musical that enjoyed a two-year run. She also traveled with such musical ensembles as “Sweet Spirit”, “Wings of Praise”, and “Vision” etc., traveling throughout her high school and college years and well beyond,
sharing the good news of Jesus with tens of thousands over 13 years. In college, she continued to travel with the college teams, circumnavigating the US twice. She studied music and education, minoring in Bible and psychology. After graduation, the Lord gave her an opportunity to teach for almost two years in a brand-new Christian school in Kirkcaldy, Scotland. She taught in the lower primary classroom and introduced the concept of Christian musical theater to the school, directing four musicals. During the summer and holidays, Sandy traveled and sang throughout Great Britain, sometimes teaming up with her sister Cheryl, a singer, composer and pianist. Together they traveled throughout Europe.

Upon her return to the U.S., Sandy earned an M.S.Ed in Reading Development and taught in a public school in NY as a reading specialist. There, she met her husband Joe, and together they started the next adventure – a large family. Rachel, Elizabeth, Jonathan and Sarah came in rapid succession, and Sandy began her homeschooling journey. She also taught in Christian schools and tutorial services throughout this season of childrearing, and together, she and her family embarked on six years of foster care ministry to medically fragile infants and toddlers. The Bernatowicz family grew both numerically, and in the scope of mission. Two daughters were called into medicine because of these years, and the first four have graduated from Christian colleges/universities such as Gordon, Valley Forge and Southeastern.

Sandy discovered Spectrum and Stagelight Theater through an online search, and sons Caleb, 15 and Joshua, 12, thoroughly enjoyed their first year in 2024-2025. She is thrilled to become a part of this thriving ministry.
