Mrs. Shelly Izzi To All Instructors
Shelly Izzi hails from Cleveland, Ohio. She has a BS in Elementary Education from Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minnesota, with a minor in American Indian Studies and Reading. She did her student teaching in Geneva, Switzerland, at a private Swiss boarding school and then landed in Fairfax, Virginia, as a full-time teacher in one of the first solar-powered schools in the country. In Fairfax County, she taught at three different elementary schools, was the science Lead Teacher, and took classes and received an M.Ed. in Counselingfrom George Mason University.
Shelly has been teaching at Spectrum since 2010. She teaches science, geography, and art classes. In the past, she coordinated the SPOKES classes, part of Homesteaders, and taught all ages of Sunday School and VBS classes. Shelly and her husband Carmen have two beautiful children adopted from China who were also homeschooled: Caroline (holds a BS and MS from Stevenson University) and Becca. Shelly enjoys nature, gardening, scrapbooking, crafts, and travel.
